Global Money Week 2024

Global Money Week 2024

The 12th edition of the Global Money Week (GMW) will take place from 18-24 March 2024. GMW is a global campaign highlighting the importance of financial education for children and youth. This event aims to promote the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours necessary to make sound financial decisions that can lead to the financial well-being of new generations.

Since its launch in 2012, the campaign GMW has reached over 60 million children and young people in 176 countries worldwide and has become a global movement promoting financial literacy among youth. In its latest edition, GMW 2023, 120 million people were reached and 40,416 organisations participated. GMW is evidence of the growing commitment to the financial education of our future generations.

The GMW2024 theme, “Protect your money, secure your future”, focuses on safe money management and highlights the importance of adopting a responsible and informed approach to personal finances. This approach is vital for young people to be aware of the risks in the financial sector and to protect them from various dangers such as financial fraud, phishing, money muling, online shopping scams, and risks related to data privacy, such as identity theft. Emphasising these points is crucial to prepare young people for adverse situations and equip them with the necessary tools to defend their hard-earned savings.

The GMW2024 Global Launch event will take place in hybrid format on 18 March 2024 between 10:00 and 16:00 CET at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris. This event will not only mark the start of a week full of financial education and activities around the world, but is also organized in collaboration with the OECD/FinCoNet International Seminar “Tackling Financial Scams and Frauds” providing an essential forum to discuss the prevention of financial fraud and the protection of young people’s assets.

We invite you to join Global Money Week 2024, to encourage positive change in young people’s financial lives and contribute to their growth as financially aware and prepared future adults. Take part in the activities and help build a secure and prosperous financial future for the next generation.
