The FGD is governed and run by a Management Committee comprising 11 members, four appointed by the Banco de España (the Spanish central bank), one representative from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, one from the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration and five from the various associations representing the member credit institutions.
Banco de España representatives are appointed by the central bank’s Executive Committee. One such appointee is the Deputy Governor, who chairs the Management Committee.
The representative of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation is the Secretary General of the Treasury and International Finance, who is the Vice President of the Management Committee and acts as President if that office is vacant or in the event of absence or illness of the President.
The representative of the Ministry of Finance and Civil Service is the General State Comptroller.
Meanwhile, the representatives of the member institutions are appointed as follows: three by the Spanish banking associations, one by the savings banks and one by the Spanish association of credit cooperatives, in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
